Terms and conditions in lightbox

Currently clicking the "terms and conditions" during checkout opens in a small iframe with scroll bars.
Any terms and conditions are practically unreadable.
It would be very much appreciated if it opened in a lightbox or a separate tab. (I believe it used to in 2.x verions?)

On a further note. Clicking the "data policy" note opens the GDPR compliance page in a separate tab. Which makes it somewhat stranger that terms and conditions are opened in an iframe...
Perhaps this is more a bug than a feature request?

Perhaps a checkbox for "open terms in new tab" could be added to the customization options for the cart page. I can see from comment / support section, that more people than I have requested it.
